THE WRITER'S ROOM : Writing Manifestation.

By CultureHub

Overview

A monthly space to read, write, and manifest through words. Explore how moments on the page turn into reflection and meaning.

Dear You: Writing Manifestation, Inside the Moment, Beyond the Page

This is part of the Monthly Writer’s Room series at CultureHub, Rotterdam.

In December’s Writer’s Room, we turn our attention to manifestation. The art of speaking something into being through words.
Letters, postcards, manifestos: each is a way of addressing the world, shaping it through language, making the invisible visible.

To write a manifesto is to declare.
To write a letter is to reach.
To write a postcard is to condense a life into a single frame.

All are acts of manifestation. All balance between the moment and the reflection, between immediacy and distance. This month, we explore how these two forces work together to move our writing forward.

Writing an immediate scene lets us inhabit experience as it happens, breath by breath, gesture by gesture. Writing reflection gives us space to step back, to gather, to see the larger shape of things. Manifestation in writing happens where these meet: where imagination begins to take form on the page.

Through the lens of letters and declarations, we explore how to make emotion tangible. How does the act of writing to someone, even if they never read it, shift what we see and know? How can a single moment expand into a whole story, or a single sentence hold the weight of a life?

What to expect

  • First, we read.
    • Bring whatever you are currently reading and spend the first hour in quiet, collective presence.
  • Then, we write.
    • In the second hour, we explore how immediacy and reflection shape our stories through a 20-minute craft talk and 40-minutes of guided prompts. You will experiment with forms of manifestation: letters, pleas, manifestos, and postcards. Each a tool to move between what is seen and what is felt.

Whether you write fiction, memoir, or poetry, you will find space to explore how your writing calls something into being.

The workshop is held in English, but you are welcome to write in any language that feels like home. There is no pressure to share your work. This is a space for presence, play, and creation.
