Over dit evenement
UPDATE EVENT CANCELLED: It is with regret that I inform you that we are cancelling the Fulbright 70th anniversary event on 22 March. While so many of us were looking forward to this celebration, a sense of civic responsibility compels us to cancel. Given that local and global health authorities have emphasized social distancing and avoiding large, public gatherings as the most effective means of limiting the spread of the coronavirus, this gathering would be unwise. Instead of a live event, we would like to offer you a chance to reflect on what Fulbright means to you a photo and quote or a short video that we can perhaps share via our social media channels. Please send any submissions to info@fulbright.nl.
This academic year marks 70 years of Fulbright in the Netherlands. The first eight Dutch Fulbright students and scholars set sail to study in the United States for academic year 1949 -1950. Through all of our programs in academic year 2019-2020 we sent nearly 70 Dutch students and scholars to the United States and welcomed nearly 50 American students, scholars, and teachers to the Netherlands.
We hope you will join us in celebrating this milestone!
We are pleased to have Fulbright alumna, scholar, educator, and writer Gloria Wekker as our keynote speaker. She will commemorate this occasion togehter with fellow alumni and current Fulbrighters, illuminating why learning alongside one another to promote mutual understanding matters as much in 2020 as it did in 1950.
