Catholic Social Teaching online seminar
Dive into the rich tradition of Catholic Social Teaching with our new online seminar series.
Join Our Online Catholic Social Teaching (CST) Seminar!
This initiative, inspired by the Economy of Francesco and related networks, offers a unique opportunity to explore foundational documents, historical context, and contemporary applications of CST. It is co-sponsored by Tilburg University's Just Economy Lab.
What to Expect:
- Rerum Novarum - Dr. Ellen van Stichel (KU Leuven) will speak on the text and context of the encyclical. What questions does the encyclical address, what are the key arguments that pope Leo XIII put forward?
- Expert-Led Discussions: Enterpreneur Melanie Rieback and theologian dr. Anton ten Klooster will lead the session, and will give you the opportunity to reflect on what catholic social teaching means.
- Catholic social thought in practice - Fr. Henri ten Have speaks on the social action of Dutch priest Alphons Ariëns, a candidate for beatification from the archdiocese of Utrecht (The Netherlands)
Why Join?
- No Geographic Barriers: Accessible from anywhere, removing travel and financial constraints.
- Broad Appeal: Whether you are Catholic, curious, otherwise socially engaged, or just interested in CST: you're welcome to join!
Next Steps:
- The First of A Series: Kick off with a two-part online session covering historical context and inspiring figures. The Economy of Francesco is looking to sponsor follow-up sessions on other social encyclicals, so that we journey from Leo XIII to Leo XIV.
- Growing Archive: Sessions will be recorded and archived, building a valuable resource for ongoing learning.
