DONDERDAG 7 MAART - Comedy Meetup (voor comedyprofessionals)

Het UICF organiseert dit jaar de Comedy Meetup, een vakmiddag voor comedians en comedy-vakgenoten waarmee het UICF wil bijdragen aan de professionalisering van comedy in Europa. Keynote speaker is Chi-Chi Ton. Haar verhaal is dat van iemand die comedy in de Noorse stad Stavanger vanaf nul opbouwde, met alle valkuilen en lessen van dien.

De nadruk van deze bijeenkomst ligt op de bedrijfsvoering van comedyshows, -clubs en -festivals. Sprekers uit binnen- en buitenland zullen hun licht laten schijnen over o.a. het opbouwen van een publiek, kaartverkoop-strategieën en de do's en don'ts van promotie. Moderator Esther van der Voort zal daarbij ook de vertegenwoordigde comedy promotors uit o.a. Duitsland, Oostenrijk en Italië aan de tand voelen.

Chi-Chi Ton. Chi-Chi nam haar ervaring als producente in de muziekwereld mee toen ze in de Noorse stad Stavanger neerstreek en er Comedy Box oprichtte. Als succesvolle comedypromotor zette ze shows op in het Noors en Engels, een comedyfestival en een samenwerking met festivals in Denemarken, Zweden en Engeland. Twee jaar geleden verkocht ze Comedy Box en tegenwoordig is ze werkzaam bij de Norwegian Arts Council. Haar verhaal is dat van iemand die comedy in haar stad vanaf nul opbouwde, met alle valkuilen en lessen.

This year, the UICF also organises the Comedy Meetup, an industry seminar where current topics within the world of stand-up will be explored. The emphasis will be on business management for comedyshows, -clubs and -festivals. Dutch and foreign speakers will shine their light on such subjects as audience building, ticketing strategies and the do's and dont's of promotion. Moderator Esther van der Voort will also gauge the reactions of the represented comedy promotors from Germany, Austria and Italy, among others.

Keynote Speaker will be Chi-Chi Ton. Chi-Chi brought her experience as production manager in the music business with her when she landed in the Norwegian city of Stavanger and established Comedy Box. As a successful promotor she set up shows in both Norwegian and English as well as a festival and a collaboration with festivals in Denmark, Sweden and England. Two years ago she sold Comedy Box and she now works for the Norwegian Arts Council. Het story is that of someone who built up comedy in her city from the ground up, with all the pitfalls and lessons that went with that.

The UICF Comedy Meetup will take place in TivoliVredenburg on Thursday March 7, 12.00 - 16.00 and will end with drinks, giving everyone the opportunity to get to know each other.
