Embedded lighting lecture - Dutch Design Week
ma 24 oktober 2016, 20:00 – 22:00 CEST
Come join us as we listen to Brad Koerner, Creative Director at Philips Lighting, explore the potential of fusing light into the surfaces that surround us and the amazing new design opportunities this presents.
Philips Lighting is exploring a creative new future where the concepts of light bulbs and lamps as we know them disappear into architectural surfaces. With LED lighting, we can now fuse light directly into walls, floors and ceilings – creating the potential for new spatial experiences that express a range of impressions such as sultry romance, dynamic motion, or sparkling radiance.
Brad will be joined by Boaz Cohen and Sayaka Yamamoto from Amsterdam-based design firm BCXSY. Philips Lighting partnered with BCXSY to explore the creative potential of embedded lighting, resulting in a dynamic prototype that will be installed as part of Kazerne’s “ESCAPE” exhibition. BCXSY combined graphic patterns of woodwork with dynamic patterns of lighting, fusing them together to create an expression of natural movement from an architectural surface.
