ONDERNEMERSCHAP COLLEGE SDG #6 EDITIONENTREPRENEURSHIP COLLEGE - SDG #6 EDITION

SDG 6: clean water and sanitation

SDG 6 ensures access to sustainable water management and sanitation for everyone. It has a positive influence on all the other SDGs. For example, food safety, education and health. How does this actually work? And how can you contribute to this as a (future) entrepreneur? An expert speaker and an entrepreneur speaker will tell you all about it. Be there!

Every second Thursday of the month, we organize lectures around the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations. Our guest speakers are academic experts and entrepreneurs working in the field of the SDGs. They discuss root causes, challenges, relevant theories, and important stakeholders.

Every entrepreneurship college is committed to one of the sustainable development goals. Our mission is to introduce the goals to everyone who is interested in the goals, but also to entrepreneurs or future entrepreneurs that want to make the world a better place through entrepreneurship. For each course we invite an expert to explain one of the goals, to provide insight into why urgent change is needed and what the consequences would be if we failed to achieve the goals.

This time we’re honored to welcome prof. dr. Kees van Leeuwen. Kees has worked at the Dutch government in three different Ministries on water, health and the environment, the Utrecht University and the European Commission. He has a passion for water and nowadays he works as Chief Science Officer & Principal Scientist at KWR (Water Research Institute) and as a professor in Water Management and Urban Development at the Utrecht University.

After the expert, an entrepreneur comes to talk about his or her company and answers the following questions. Why are they trying to achieve the relevant SDG? How do they do this? And how do innovations and technology play a role in this? Peter Scheer, Founder of Semilla Sanitation Hubs will inspire us this month. Semilla modules form a closed wastewater treatment unit, using advanced space technology to convert sanitary wastewater into clean water and nutrients for food production. Semilla wants to help to achieve SDG 6 by creating closed cycles. Their team strives to create awareness about the current water and food-related problems while offering a solution at the same time. They are dedicated to increase sanitation, water and even food access for all.

The lecture will end with a short talk from Bart Grevenhof, project manager of the entrepreneurship program at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences, who briefly provides insights into the latest technologies.

Our goal is to welcome and inspire students, teachers and professionals of all kinds of backgrounds.
