Albert Casan & Miguel Sucasas, inspired by the gumbo of New Orleans, after their trip to the Jazz and Funk land, decide to bring their experience to the Netherlands with Groove Spot. Prepare for a full dose of Groove and Funk!!

Albert Casan – Guitar

Albert Casán (Barcelona 1981) is a musician who has lived in Rotterdam since 2014.

Albert studied his Jazz Guitar studies in Spain, Germany and the Netherlands and is active in the Dutch jazz scene. He regularly performs in the Randstad area and plays with Jazz ensembles, Latin bands and also as a solo artist.

Miguel Sucasas – Saxophones

Miguel Sucasas is a talented young saxophone player, composer and music educator, born in Galicia, Spain. He has been performing his musical projects all around Europe in prestigious music festivals.

In 2014 Miguel released his own album entitled “Four Corners Quartet” with his original compositions.

He started to play music at the age of six.

In 2010, following his passion for Jazz music he moved to study in Portugal. In 2014 he received a degree in Jazz Saxophone from the Lisbon school of music (ESML). He moved to the Netherlands in the same year to follow lessons with the American saxophone player John Rocco and the Dutch/Finnish trumpet player Jarmo Hoogendijk. In 2016 he was awarded his Master’s degree from the Royal Conservatory of The Hague.

Yussif Barakat - Double Bass and Electric Bass

Yussif Barakat (Ecuador) Currently living in The Hague where he actively participates as a bassist in the

fields of classical music, early music and jazz. In 2019 he received his double Master of Music degrees in double bass and violone from the Royal Conservatoire. Yussif performed with the Netherlands Bach Society, Musica Temprana, Musica in Scena, Ensemble Odyssee, and the Orchestra of the 18th Century among others. He got awarded first prize for historically informed solo on the Viennese Bass days held in Amsterdam 2019.
