Secretary Plus Inspiration Day

Ageing, migration and robots, how the Belgian labour market is not prepared for the upcoming challenges. And what can be done to fix that.

About the session

Ageing, migration and robots.

Belgium isn’t well prepared for the challenges of tomorrow. Obvious opportunities have been missed in recent years in both the policy area as in terms of the digital economy.

During this keynote speech, Bart Van Craeynest, economist and speaker, will take stock of the achievements so far in this country. Where are we at in 2018? And what can we do to better capitalize on our country’s strengths?

Bart has put forward a number of targeted measures to inspire Belgian entrepreneurs who have the ambition to lead the way: how can we prepare the labour market for a rapidly changing world economy?

About Bart Van Craeynest

After studying economics at UFSIA (Antwerp), Bart Van Craeynest started his career as an economist in the financial sector. In this context, he has been following both Belgian and global economic developments for almost 20 years, as well asthe consequences for the financial markets. After working many years at KBC, he became chief economist at Petercam in 2010. Bart has held the position of chief economist at Econopolis from 2015 – 2018 during which he was responsible for the organisation’s economic position and, as such, was closely involved in the development of its investment strategy. He wrote the book Superstaat, explaining which steps Belgium needs to undertake in order to avoid becoming a failed state.
