Curious about public speaking? Want to boost your confidence, think on your feet, and learn how to captivate an audience? Join us for an inspiring and interactive Open House evening with The Hague University Toastmasters (HUT) and experience what Toastmasters is all about!

Whether you're a student, professional, or simply curious about improving your speaking skills, this event is the perfect opportunity to experience our club and discover your voice.
This special evening is designed to give visitors a full free taste of Toastmasters and the HUT club experience. Expect a lively, welcoming atmosphere and plenty of opportunities to participate. We start with a “best of speeches” by seasoned toastmasters. After a short snack break we’ll have a workshop and impromptu speaking contest for both members and guests to practice public speaking. Each main item on the agenda will last about 30 minutes each.

🎤“Best of Speeches.”
Listen to experienced Toastmasters from District 59 as they take the stage and demonstrate the power of impactful public speaking. Each speech will be delivered in the classic Toastmasters format and followed by a short evaluation, giving you insight into how great speakers continuously refine their craft.
🏆 And here’s the twist: the audience decides!
At HUT, the crowd votes by roll-call to award the coveted “Best Speaker Mug.”

Everyone has stories worth telling — the challenge is learning how to shape them so they truly resonate with an audience. In this interactive Story Crafting Workshop, you’ll discover how powerful storytelling can transform simple ideas into memorable messages.
Our guest instructor will demonstrate how a story can be structured with humor, meaning, and emotional impact, then guide you through the process so you can start crafting your own story.

- The key building blocks of a compelling story
- How to structure ideas into a clear and engaging narrative
- Ways to blend humor and purpose in your message
- Practical tips to craft and share your own story
⚡ Impromptu Speaking Game by Mike Eekhof
Ready to think on your feet? In this fast-paced Impromptu Speaking Game, speakers will go head-to-head as Red Team vs Blue Team, pitching for or arguing against imaginative and real startup products. The challenge: deliver a convincing argument on the spot and win over the audience.
🏆 At the HUT, the crowd decides!
After each round, the audience votes by roll-call, and the speaker with the most wins takes home the “Best Speaker Mug.”
🎤 3 exciting rounds:
- Warm-up: Pro/Con arguments for a wildly imaginative product
- Round 2: Pro/Con arguments for a real product on the market
- Final Round: Persuade the audience to support or eliminate a real product

- Apply story crafting to strengthen your arguments
- Use humor and creativity to engage the audience
- Paint vivid examples that make your case unforgettable
