In the Johan Cruijff ArenA you can enjoy the most beautiful matches, concerts, tours and business events. Before Corona, there were around 2 million visitors annually. But the ArenA is also a worldwide pioneer in the field of public experience, sustainability and services. How did they come up with these innovations?

In the Powering the Future session on 22 June, we will be looking at the results of the Spectacular Arena Experiences field lab, which focused on fan experiences. We will talk to Sander van Stiphout, Program Manager of the Amsterdam Innovation Arena, about his approach and the intensive collaboration with public and private partners. We also discuss four special cases: parties who have developed something new together with the Arena and are now on the verge of conquering the world with their innovations.

The following experts will join us:

• Sander van Stiphout (Johan Cruijff ArenA): Sander is Director International at the Johan Cruijff Arena and Program Manager of the Amsterdam Innovation Arena. Amsterdam Innovation Arena is an innovation platform to test and grow solutions that make the lives of people better. Innovations that have a positive impact in the areas of mobility, crowd control, security, visitor engagement, sustainability, facility management and inclusivity with a key role for digitalization.

• Annemieke Kinoo (Calculus): Annemieke is Business Development Director at Calculus, a company specialized in software and technical engineering. The Calculus platform offers tools to track and monitor in the most diverse areas. Like monitoring the use of water, energy and lighting at events. They joined the Johan Cruijff ArenA innovation ecosystem to showcase their platform in the Stadium environment. Calculus recently have developed a digital control room packed with sensor-based data, which sports locations can use to monitor health within their buildings. This will help to ensure a safe and healthy return to visiting sport locations such as the ArenA.

• Kiliaan Toorenaar (Close): Kiliaan is co-founder of the startup Close, a mobile marketing channel for event organizers, to increase the experience of visitors before, during and after events. With Close you can easily start a communication channel for your brand or event that will be instantly available for clients or visitors via the Close App. Close brings the knowledge from the online industry to events, allowing them to also work with collecting data, customer journeys and upselling.

• André Bos (Security & Safety Things): André is Senior Business Development Manager at Security & Safety Things, a Bosch Start-up. He talks about the development of an open operating system for surveillance cameras. This offers many possibilities for analyzing live video's, where developers can offer their apps via a global marketplace. This also provides innovative solutions and applications outside the field of safety and security.

• Paul Valk (Studio Automated): Paul is founder of Studio Automated, a company working on Artificial Intelligence Algorithms for handling video footage on a global scale in cooperation with the Netherlands Organisation for applied science research (TNO). They developed the Virtual Surveillance Assistant (VSA). This software can learn what is normal in its environment and can detect and alert what is abnormal in this environment. Within the Amsterdam Innovation ArenA they Studio Automated will showcase the possibilities of the VSA Algorithm for social distancing, aggression detection, detection of health issues and analysing the behaviour of the audience.

In de Johan Cruijff ArenA kun je genieten van de mooiste wedstrijden, concerten, rondleidingen en zakelijke evenementen. Voor Corona waren er jaarlijks rond de 2 miljoen bezoekers. Maar de ArenA is ook een wereldwijde pionier op het gebied van publieksbeleving, duurzaamheid en dienstverlening. Hoe komt die innovatie tot stand?

In de Powering the Future sessie van 22 juni, besteden we aandacht aan de resultaten van het fieldlab Spectacular Arena Experiences, daarin stond de fanbeleving centraal. We gaan we in gesprek met Sander van Stiphout, Program Manager van de Amsterdam Innovation Arena, over zijn aanpak en de intensieve samenwerking met publieke en private partners. Daarnaast komen vier bijzondere cases aan bod: partijen die samen met de Arena echt iets nieuws hebben ontwikkeld, en nu op het punt staan met hun innovaties de wereld te veroveren.

• Sander van Stiphout (Amsterdam Innovation Arena) : Sander is Director International bij de Johan Cruijff Arena en Program Manager van de Amsterdam Innovation Arena. Amsterdam Innovation Arena is een fieldlab voor innovatie en richt zich op het maken van een positieve impact op het gebied van mobiliteit, crowd control, veiligheid, visitor engagement, duurzaamheid, facility management en inclusiviteit met een belangrijke rol voor digitalisering.

• Annemieke Kinoo (Calculus): Annemieke is Business Development Director bij Calculus, een bedrijf gespecialiseerd in software en technische engineering. Het platform van Calculus biedt tools om op de meest uiteenlopende gebieden te tracken en te monitoren. Zoals het monitoren van het gebruik van water, energie en verlichting bij evenementen. Zij hebben zich aangesloten bij het innovatie ecosysteem van de Johan Cruijff ArenA om de voordelen van hun platform in een stadionomgeving te laten zien. Calculus heeft onlangs een digitale controlekamer ontwikkeld vol met sensor-gebaseerde data, die sportlocaties kunnen gebruiken om de gezondheid binnen hun gebouwen te monitoren. Dit zal bijdragen aan een veilige en gezonde terugkeer naar bezoekende sportlocaties zoals de ArenA.

• Kiliaan Toorenaar (Close): Kiliaan is mede-oprichter van de startup Close, een mobiel marketingkanaal voor organisatoren van evenementen, om de beleving van bezoekers voor, tijdens en na evenementen te vergroten. Met Close start je eenvoudig een communicatiekanaal voor je merk of evenement dat via de Close App direct beschikbaar is voor klanten of bezoekers. Close brengt de kennis uit de online industrie naar evenementen, waardoor ook zij aan de slag kunnen met het verzamelen van data, customer journeys en upselling.

• André Bos (Security & Safety Things): André is Senior Business Development Manager bij Security & Safety Things, een Bosch Start-up. Hij vertelt over de ontwikkeling van een open besturingssysteem voor bewakingscamera’s. Dit biedt veel meer mogelijkheden om live video beelden te analyseren, waarbij ontwikkelaars via een wereldwijde marktplaats hun apps kunnen aanbieden. Dit zorgt mede voor innovatieve oplossingen en toepassingen buiten safety en security.

• Paul Valk (Studio Automated): Paul is oprichter van Studio Automated, een bedrijf dat werkt aan kunstmatige intelligentie-algoritmen voor de verwerking van videobeelden op wereldschaal, in samenwerking met TNO (Nederlandse Organisatie voor toegepast-natuurwetenschappelijk onderzoek). Zij hebben de Virtual Surveillance Assistant (VSA) ontwikkeld. Deze software kan leren wat normaal is in zijn omgeving en kan detecteren en waarschuwen wat abnormaal is in deze omgeving. Binnen de Amsterdam Innovation ArenA toont Studio Automated de mogelijkheden van het VSA-algoritme voor social distancing, detectie van agressie en gezondheidsproblemen en het analyseren van het gedrag van het publiek.
