The idea of leaving everything behind to pursue a life in the wild, appeals to many. Where does our fascination for wild nature come from?

Does it really offer a way out of the perils of modern life? We'll watch together 'Into the Wild' a film based on the book by Jon Krakauer on the true story of Chris McCandless. Intro by environmental philosopher Dr Martin Drenthen (RU).

Escape
Do you sometimes dream of getting away from city noise, endless crowds and constant connectivity? You’re not the only one. Come join us after dark at Utrecht University's old botanical garden for a movie + discussion. Bring your own blanket. We give you a pair of headphones. What is so attractive about the idea of escaping?

When? Friday May 17. Doors open at 19:15 hrs | Start program 19:45 hrs | End program 23:00 hrs
Where? Utrecht University Museum. At the Oude Hortus if the weather allows, otherwise in the Oranjerie.
Costs? Free tickets, reserve them via Eventbrite.

Organised in collaboration with Utrecht University Museum, Brommerbios & entrepreneurs Utrecht Museum Quarter.
