What would a sound ‘China Strategy’ look like? Should we do business with it or criticize its human rights records?

Over dit evenement

What would a sound ‘China Strategy’ look like? Should we do business with it or criticize its human rights records? Is the priority of China’s President Xi Jinping to strengthen his sole power within the government, or to incorporate the rule of law? Is China’s judiciary ineffectual, or an effective platform to safeguard individual rights?

This lecture series, given by dr. Qiao Cong-rui and prof. Tom Zwart, is unique in the Dutch higher-educational sector and will offer you a comprehensive breakdown of contemporary China. The series will be both objective and impartial. It will include opposing theories and important cases for conceptualising what has made China what it is today. The main aim of the course is to provide you with the fundamental knowledge that will allow you to make sense of how those in power govern China. You will also develop a keen understanding of how the country’s legal system operates.

This special lecture series is for master students and PhD candidates AND… PhD candidates can earn 1 EC!
