The Body, the Mind and the City is a series of 5 symposiums that explore the relationship between the human body and physical space. Every Wednesday, we’ll invite architects, planners, scientists, tech developers, artists and designers to present their work and try to understand how our bodies and mind interact with urban environments; how space design and technology can affect our physiological condition, change our sensory perception and behaviors.

SYMPOSIUM #2: MOVEMENT
As everything is moving around us at an increasing pace; trends, data, transportation systems, we seem to live more sedentary lifestyles punctuated with our daily routine of commuting, work sleep. According to recent studies, over 50% of both men and women in Europe were overweight, and roughly 23% of women and 20% of men were obese.

How can we integrate physical needs and can we use active design in architecture and planning to improve urban health? How do we move through urban spaces? How our physical conditions (age, disability, exer¬cise) can influence the way we move and perceive space?
