The Hague Energized at McDermott

After a great new year’s breakfast at New Babylon we are now looking ahead towards the next The Hague Energized event. This time McDermott will open its doors to welcome you at their office on April 20th.

This time we will return with an afternoon event, with short presentations on new energy developments around the North Sea followed by a social networking event. The line up of speakers will be announced soon, but expect some exciting insights on our future energy systems, infrastructure and artificial intelligence.

- Rimma Dzhusupova (McDermott) AI in Offshore Green Hydrogen production

“As the demand for large sources of hydrogen continues to rise, McDermott is taking the lead by scaling up green hydrogen plant designs to the gigawatt scale. However, due to the existing electrical grid's inability to support numerous hydrogen projects, offshore production near renewable wind energy sources will become necessary. Therefore, their project consider offshore production to meet the increasing demand. Additionally, they are implementing AI-based technology to ensure autonomous process control and balance power generation and consumption, making this large-scale green hydrogen plant a sustainable and profitable solution for the future.”

Energy hubs can efficiently integrate renewable energy in the high-voltage grid while limiting spatial impact and improving cost-efficiency. An energy hub is an offshore energy node that performs at least two of three functions: collect, connect and convert. Lotte Bosschieter (TenneT) will explain how energy hubs support reaching the climate goals and what challenges – with a special focus on market and regulation - are still to be overcome

- Benjamin Lehner on the EU-Scores project

The Horizon 2020 green deal project, led by the Dutch Marine Energy Centre, EU-SCORES will demonstrate the combination of offshore wind with wave- and offshore solar PV energy. This will pave the way for bankable multi-source offshore parks across Europe by 2025 . These multi-source parks can be combined with offshore hydrogen or energy islands and enable a more efficient space use and a better-balanced electricity grid. Altogether a more resilient and cost-effective 100% renewable energy system can be achieved.

The Hague Energized is a quarterly meeting where energy professionals can network, exchange ideas, and get inspired in a relaxed atmosphere with activities, short presentations and, of course, drinks and music. It is organized in collaboration with young professionals from The Hague’s energy industry. The event is open for all energy professionals. Corporate or start-up, young or old, trainee or CEO, everybody is welcome to join.
