This is a workshop combining music, voicework, and 8 healing sounds qi gong techniques facilitated by a professional musician and qualified music therapist.
Through music activities, awareness, and social interaction, we connect with ourselves and the group. Music and sound with intention can bring us into the present moment and the voice, as an embodied instrument, can help to uncover the areas of sensitivity and vulnerability that are ready to be felt and expressed.
Through music, sound, awareness, and movement (qi gong) we create a space of therapeutic presence in ourselves and for others in the group, that goes beyond our everyday mental state. Conscious music and songs are used to create space for reflection and deep relaxation.
This is a workshop for freedom, expression, and discovery. There are no musical talents required. We are the medicine!

Workshop structure

8 Healing sounds - Qi Gong (1hr duration)
The eight healing sounds are a Dao Yin practice using attention, breath, sound, and movement to target specific areas and organs in the body for health maintenance and general well-being. Participants will experience how the combination of attention, breath, sound, and movement can influence their internal organs such as lungs, heart, spleen, stomach, kidneys &amp; liver, and also how our organs can relate to our emotions and general health. The practice is also meditative and helps us to increase our sensitivity and connection with the psychical body. Using sound helps us directly feel a variety of sensations in our body in specific areas.

Embodied singing - Voicework and singing for therapeutic presence (1hr duration)

Building from the group energy created and body awareness through qi gong practice the group enters into voicework, singing, and musical improvisation incorporating body percussion, instruments, and the voice. Guided by the faciliator with supportive music and awareness exercises the group will explore different methods of singing and using the voice to discover a sense of therapeutic presence in themselves through our voice, vibration and body awareness.
