If you want to collaborate with with algorithms in you art work: what are the common uses, pitfalls, and possibilities? 

In this workshop, awarded artist Špela Petrič will present her work, along with Machine Vision-specialist Tim Oblak and Neural Networks-expert Benjamin Fele. They act as guides to help creatives use AI as a creative tool.

The workshop is English spoken and fee is 15 euro and includes snacks and a light lunch. 

Participants will have a theoretical introduction to possibilities for using AI in the arts and in creative endeavors in general, taking the work of Špela Petrič and her team as reference. In the second part of the workshop participants will propose original uses of AI for an artistic purpose. These ideas will be then collectively worked with the advisory of the AI specialists and by Špela Petrič to evaluate the feasibility, the methodologies, the content, and the potential to set participants in the first steps of designing a creative project enabled by AI.

Špela Petrič

Špela Petrič is a Slovenian new media artist and former scientific researcher currently based between Ljubljana, SI, in Amsterdam, NL. She received a PhD in Biomedicine at the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia, and an Advanced Master in Arts from LUCA, Brussels, Belgium. Her practice is a multi-species endeavor, a composite of natural sciences, wet media and performance. She envisions artistic experiments that enact strange relationalities to reveal the ontological and epistemological underpinnings of our (bio)technological societies and challenge the scope of the adjacent possible. Much of her recent work has focused on plant life. Her work has been shown at many festivals, exhibitions and educational events around the world (Centre Pompidou (Paris, FR), Abandon Normal Devices (Grisedale Forrest, UK), Gamerz (Aix en Provence, FR), Touch Me Festival (Zagreb, CRO), Playaround (Taipei, TW), Electronica (Linz, AT)). For her work she also received several awards including the White Aphroid for outstanding artistic achievement, the Bioart and Design Award and an Award of Distinction at Prix Ars Electronica.
