Two Exhibitions: Ivan Grubanov & Marcin Dudek

Over 20 years, Galerie Ron Mandos has earned its place of prominence within the Dutch art scene. First opening its doors in Rotterdam in 1999, it has since accrued a roster of over 30 artists from around the globe, becoming an integral nexus-point for artists at all stages of their career. In 2010, the gallery moved to its current location in the Amsterdam gallery district. In its pursuit of new developments within contemporary art and facilitated by its spacious venue, the gallery presents an extensive program within which new and dynamic means of representation are sought.

Two new exhibitions by Ivan Grubanov and Marcin Dudek.

Galerie Ron Mandos is pleased to present two new exhibitions at the gallery: Ivan Grubanov&#x27;s For God and My Country and Marcin Dudek&#x27;s Trans Hooligans.In For God and My Country, Ivan Grubanov presents a series of new installations and paintings made of national flags and worker suits. The Serbian artist explores the notion of nationalism through his memories of the bloody civil conflict that broke the former Yugoslavia apart. Grubanov addresses the question what it means to be part of a nation-state, what it means to try to leave national membership, and what it means to be associated with a nation.Trans Hooligans is Marcin Dudek&#x27;s first exhibition at the gallery. Through his own experiences as a young hooligan supporter of the Krakow football team, the artist explores materials, messages, and political contexts of the football stadium. These explorations help us to understand the functioning of the human psyche, of our insatiable need to belong to a community, and our thirst for recognition and hierarchy. The artist is interested in the rituals of subculture, DIY economy and crowd dynamics – how one gets pulled into many and what control is lost as a mass gains momentum.
