Modern life-science research increasingly hinges on the ability to transform ‘big data’ into novel biological insights. To achieve this transformation, bioinformatics expertise is a bare necessity. Due to the diverse and research specific questions, bioinformaticians and bioinformatics users are scattered around the Utrecht campus and informal exchange of ideas, experiences and knowledge are difficult. Over the last few years, the Utrecht Bioinformatics Center has been building a strong bioinformatics community by organising monthly seminars, thematic sessions and a yearly symposium. 
This year we will be organizing the first Utrecht Bioinformatics Center PhD and Post-doc mini-retreat on May 1st in the Hubrecht Institute. This mini-retreat will provide the ideal opportunity to exchange ideas, share personal experiences and just talk to your fellow bioinformaticians while also enjoying some food and drinks. We also very strongly encourage everyone to bring a poster about your research, bioinformatics setup or tooling that you developed, because this tremendously helps to promote the exchange of scientific ideas. You can simply bring an existing poster. The program starts at 16.00 and will last to approximately 20.00. Drinks and beverages will be provided and entrance will be free.
