Ascension
With her new series Ascension, Sophia Clara adds an unfiltered sensuality to her existing oeuvre, deepening her visual language into a rhythmic experience of color and energy. In this new series — a collection of paintings in which seven female figures take on charged, radiant positions — she reveals not only an unfiltered approach to physicality and femininity, but also introduces her new love: a long-awaited, passionate affair with oil paint. The figures lend themselves masterfully to this medium, captured in raw, sensual, instinctive strokes. Which results in the flexible, rhythmic, and deep flow of Ascension.
