‘United in Poetry’. Europa in woorden.

Op vrijdagmiddag 14 november a.s. organiseren Europe Direct Eindhoven en studenten van Zuyd Hogeschool Maastricht ‘United in Poetry’. Tijdens dit evenement zullen we de kracht van poëzie gebruiken om thema's en onderwerpen uit te drukken die verband houden met Europa. Denk aan de indrukwekkende geschiedenis, kunst en cultuur, waarden en diversiteit, maar het kan ook gaan over klimaatverandering, oorlog en vrede of migratie. Maar zeker ook de betekenis van Europa en de Europese Unie voor jou in je dagelijkse leven.

Wij richten ons vooral op jongeren. Doe je mee? Dicht je mee? Parktheater Eindhoven biedt jou een professioneel podium. Het mag een gedicht van jezelf zijn of van iemand anders. Elke taal is toegestaan.

Programma

· 14:30 uur inloop

· 15:00 uur poëzie optredens, in de schitterende zaal, de Kameleon in het Parktheater

· Tussendoor intermezzo’s

· 17:30 afronding

· Informeel samenzijn

Spelregels over de gedichten: Het gedicht is bij voorkeur:

· In je eigen stijl hoeft het geen klassieke poëzie te zijn. Slam Poetry, Spoken Word, Rap kunnen ook.

· Alle talen zijn toegestaan. De plaatselijke taal, je moedertaal, een minderheidstaal of dialect,

· Begeleid door een Engelse vertaling van het gedicht of die maken we samen

· Deelnemers aan dit event stemmen ermee in dat de voorgedragen gedichten verspreid kunnen worden door de organisatie en dat er opnames gemaakt van je worden (fotografie of video).

· Stuur je gedicht van tevoren, voor 10 november op naar email adres info@buzzychain.nl

On 14 November (02:30 pm) 2025 we are hosting a poetry event where we wish to advocate what Europe means to its inhabitants whilst celebrating their culture. The event is called United through Poetry. If you want to participate we would like you to write or select a poem in your native tongue that closely relates to themes and topics surrounding Europe and the European Union.

What Europe means to us Europeans in our history, values, soul, and diversity. When you have chosen your contribution to our poetry event we ask you to proclaim the poem in a recording that we shall play during the event. Please use landscape format.

In addition to this, we would greatly appreciate it if you could add an English translation of your poem. This way we can ensure that the majority of the participants of the event understand the poem.

A professional will make a video impression. If you wish, you can also add the logo of your Europe Direct, so our cooperation will be visible. If you do not wish to be included in this video, please let us know by email. Maybe we will make a digital poetry booklet. Of course you can always call or email us if you have any questions or suggestions.

In summary. Options to get involved with United through Poetry. More choices possible:

o Poem inspired by Europe/EU in your own native language. Please send by email, before 14 November. This could be a poem by another poet (please mention your name), but preferably by yourself or a fellow countryman.

o Video of an on-the-spot recitation of this poem by yourself or someone else. With mobile phone landscape format works fine.

o Your submitted poems will be shown during our session on November the 14.

o Your submitted poems will be shown in the video that will be made afterwards.

o Your logo can be shown during the session and in the video
