Vegetable Fermentation Workshop
A hands-on workshop on vegetable fermentation. You leave with a jar of fermented vegetables and the knowledge to make it any time.
Curious about fermentation but not sure where to start?
This hands-on workshop is for anyone wanting to get started with vegetable fermentation.
Fermentation is a traditional skill that's surprisingly simple once you understand the process. We'll cover how to use seasonal, everyday vegetables and herbs.
Fermented vegetables work as a condiment that makes simple dishes better and helps you use vegetables before they go bad. Making it yourself costs a fraction of store-bought fermented food.
We cover which vegetables ferment well, food safety, and how to tell when it's working properly. You'll taste different ferments during the workshop.
What's covered:
- How fermentation works and why it preserves food
- Which vegetables ferment well and which don't
- Food safety: how to tell safe fermentation from spoilage
- What to expect as your ferment develops at home (1-4 weeks)
- How to store and use fermented vegetables
What's included:
- Coffee, tea and kombucha
- All ingredients
- Fermentation weight
- Tasting samples of different fermented vegetables
- Your jar of fermented vegetables to take home (ready to eat in 1-4 weeks)
What to bring
A clean clip-top jar (max 500ml). We recommend clip jars over twist-off for fermentation. Or you can purchase one from us for €5 during workshop.
Who it's for:
Beginners who like eating fermented food and want to make it at home. Also for people who've tried fermenting and struggled. No experience needed.
Duration: 2hr
