VREEMDLAND Social Lab Days: Co-production, social innovation and social labs

Bron van Doen is a co-design studio in Eindhoven developing projects that embody social, cultural and economic values. This project is a collaboration with Stichting Het Jongerenhuis, a housing project in Eindhoven intended for refugees and Dutch students. This project will take place at De Huiskamer (organized by Het Jongerenhuis), a meeting place for information, guidance, education and culture, hosting daily lunches, activities and courses.Together with our network of international partners, we are participating in this year’s DDW to share inspiring practices of residents and migrants working together, as well as explore the future of De Huiskamer becoming a social lab for locals and newcomers in Eindhoven.

VREEMDLAND Social Lab Days On the future of co-production, social innovation and social labs 
What could the future of co-creation between residents and migrants look like? VREEMDLAND shares inspirational practices of social innovation in the Netherlands and Europe, working towards new scenarios or co-production. VREEMDLAND will be a podium of innovative case studies, as well as a playground of new ideas to help people address today's societal challenges together.
VREEMDLAND Social Lab Days is a 3 day co-design event that blends presentations, discussions and workshops. Focused on co-production, social innovation and social labs, each day we work on specific topics and challenges presented by our team of hosts. This event is also a live demonstration of how we envision social labs: as a platform for local communities, creatives, entrepreneurs and governments to co-create innovative solutions to today’s societal urgencies. We invite you to join our journey to address these challenges together.

Social Lab Day 1 (Oct 25 Wednesday 14:00 - 19:00) Hosted by De Voorkamer and Plan Einstein (municipality of Utrecht) Community sourced meeting spaces
We, as social designers, researchers and creative facilitators, use participatory design as a starting point to create new inclusive spaces. The role of design here is to encourage exchange and stimulate participation - both crucial ingredients for equality and integration. We invite you to join us and engage in the dilemmas and challenges of designing new community-sourced spaces in today’s individual society.

Social Lab Day 2 (Oct 26 Thursday 14:00 - 19:00) Hosted by Hans Sauer Stiftung, Daniel Kerber, Conor Trawinski Designing Futures - Social Labs & Paths of Integration
What role do social labs play in stimulating societal change? What problems should they work on? And on what scale? How can we address integration on a local and (inter)national level? Can independent projects support one another? Based on several frameworks and case studies we are working on, we invite you to join us in an engaging discussion and workshop to answer these questions together.

Eindhoven is a diverse and creative city, and we believe De Huiskamer has an important role to play in its continued development as a cultural hub - by becoming a social lab for locals and newcomers. Upon existing practices of co-production and what we have learned from VREEMDLAND, we invite you to join us in imagining the future of De Huiskamer and social innovation labs in Eindhoven.
