EXHIBITIONLocation: The Grey Space in the Middle19 – 29 October, Opening times: daily 12:00 – 22:00Closed on Monday the 23rd&nbsp;The "Streams of Waste" exhibition serves as a starting point for exploring the complex trajectories of waste streams, both physical and digital, and their material, social, and environmental impacts. Some waste streams, such as plastic litter on city streets, are highly visible. In contrast, others remain largely unseen, like the equivalent of a credit card's worth of microplastics entering our bodies each week. The exhibition sheds light on both intended and unintended pollution effects in the Netherlands and globally. It underscores the worldwide consequences of our local actions across ecological, societal, and geographical boundaries.The exhibition features contemporary positions by eight international artists and collectives from Argentina, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, China, Denmark, Kenya, The Netherlands, and The United States. Their diverse practices include visual arts, design, filmmaking and artistic research, expressing personal and societal implications of waste on their respective communities by amplifying the voices of ecosystems that we can not (yet) listen to. From sculptures and installations to moving images and interactive projects, Wasteland: Streams of Waste invites you to explore waste streams from micro to macro perspectives and to envision alternative realities.With contributions by: Nest Collective, Maarten Vanden Eynde, Bartolina Xixa, Carol Anne McChrystal, Selma Selman, Noud Sleumer, Sissel Marie Tonn, and Ziyang Wu.PRACTICAL INFORMATIONTickets:To allow greater access, Wasteland 2023 offers a combination of free program parts and sliding-scale tickets for paid events and activities. For all paid program items, solidarity tickets are available for people with limited resources; please email us if you would like to use them.Venue and accessibility:Located in the city centre of the Hague, The Grey Space in the Middle is easily reachable by bike, public transport, or car. All spaces on the ground floor and the basement (via a lift) are accessible by wheelchair and mobility scooter. Please ask the staff for access to the lift. There is an accessible toilet on the ground floor.
