Hi! I'm Manon, a calligrapher and illustrator from Amsterdam. I've been teaching people the art of calligraphy and watercolour for over 3 years now. Due to the current pandemic I can't welcome people into my studio anymore, so to keep spreading the joy of watercolour I'm hosting 'Watercolour Wednesdays' online. I think now more than ever we can find comfort and joy in art. So let's get out of our heads and create together.

In this live Zoom class I will teach you the basics of Watercolour and we will learn how to write letters with a paint brush. You don't need any experience to join, just some paper, brushes and watercolour paint!

There's a maximum of 10 participants so the class can be interactive and I can give you all some individual guidance.

For materials, any watercolour paint, brushes and paper will do, though your results will be better when using high quality materials. The materials I use are:

- Winsor and Newton professional grade watercolour pigments. I use the tubes because the pigments are a little brighter and I like to fill my own pallets, but naps will work too. If you don't want to invest too much just yet, the Winsor&Newton student grade 'Cotman' pigments are fine too. This set for instance is a good deal!

- Round watercolour brushes. I use a size 6 but you will be able to join with any size paintbrus, as long as it not too big (I would advise no bigger than 8), these Van der Linde brushes , or the DaVinci Casaneo brushes are great for brush lettering.

- This Gerstaecker paper is great for brush lettering. You want a thick, strong watercolour paper but without too much structure so that your brush can glide over the paper quite easily.

You'll also need two cups of water and some kitchen towel.
