This October, The Carried Away invites you to an intimate evening of creative writing inspired by gothic literature, folklore, mystery, and the things that frighten us.
Whether you've been writing for years or have never written a story before, Wicked Writers Workshop is an evening designed to help you discover the darker side of your imagination.
Through guided writing instruction, atmospheric prompts, and creative exercises, we'll explore how to create stories that are eerie, unsettling, mysterious, and unforgettable.
You'll explore:
🕯️ Gothic atmosphere — creating tension through setting, mood, and sensory detail
🦇 Unforgettable characters — developing mysterious characters with secrets of their own
🌙 Fear & suspense — learning how to keep readers on the edge of their seats
🏚️ Dark worlds — transforming houses, forests, streets, and familiar places into something sinister
📖 Storytelling prompts — writing your own short scenes and stories inspired by the evening's themes
And because every good writer deserves a little indulgence, we'll also have wine, spooky seasonal treats, and plenty of time to meet fellow readers and writers.
No previous creative writing experience is required. Come alone, bring a friend, or simply bring the story that's been haunting you.
