Natural dye workshop using flowers and food waste exploring fashion futures, textile care, and sustainabilit for a TU/e graduation project.
Simone is an Industrial Design master student at TU/e exploring how material engagement can reconnect people to their clothing. Her Master graduation project investigates natural dyeing as both a practice and a speculative tool, encouraging more caring and sustainable relationships with textiles by combining making with reflection on the future of the fashion system.
Explore natural dyeing while rethinking your relationship with clothing. In this workshop, you will learn the basics of dyeing with flower and food-waste and experience the process. Alongside this, you will be introduced to the impact of synthetic dyes and the complexity of the textile industry. You will also take part in an exercise set in 2050, where synthetic dyes no longer exist. This will help you imagine your role in a more sustainable textile system, while developing a more conscious and caring approach to clothing.
