Workshop: Animal Art~ 'Birds, Eggs & Nests', Eindhoven

Come learn a fun and easy mixed-media technique for illustrating birds, their eggs and nests, Saturday 2nd May 10.00-12.00

Come join us and discover a fun, easy technique of watercolour painting and pencils to portray animals. Whether you're an experienced artist or have tried painting or sketching at home or in a previous workshop, I'll have some fresh tips and tricks for you to discover. Each session has specially-designed printed worksheets and guides to take home.

This workshop will have a special focus on illustrating birds, their eggs and nests, and I will provide photos and models of the blackbird (merel) nests and the bluetit (pimpelmees) today.

• How do we make the birds look 'real', lively and have a convincing and attractive texture? How to make them look like a particular species. How are their eggs patterned, and what sort of nests do they make?

We'll work on how to~

• Become familiar with your materials

• Illustrate animals that come to life

• Learn illustration shortcuts and tricks

• Overcome perfectionism and make drawing a fun experience

We'll be working from some lovely photo reference, and you'll pick up the fundamentals which can be applied to any sketch subject, not just animals. We'll be using high quality coloured pencils and watercolour paints. All materials (and refreshments!) provided.

Laura Carter is a professional English illustrator, with several years experience of giving art workshops.
