Workshop: Systems Thinking in Action

Learn how to look at your own challenge from a systems thinking perspective

Have you been hearing about "systems thinking" but are not sure yet what it is about and how it might be relevant for you? Or are you looking for a new way to tackle a challenge you are feeling stuck with?

After this workshop, you will walk away with a better understanding of systems thinking, as well as a new perspective on and fresh energy to tackle your own complex challenge.

During the workshop, we will use questions to look at your challenge from multiple perspectives and learn how to visualise and combine these perspectives to gain new insights.

We will go through a couple of cycles of: listening to a short explanation based on an example, applying the new concept to your own challenge individually or in pairs and reflecting on the exercise with the whole group.

The challenge you bring to the workshop could be related to your personal life or to your work. Here are some examples:

• I want to be more active but keep falling back into my old routines.
• I struggle to find enough clients for my business.
• With my team it feels like we are always behind, we don't manage to make our deadlines.
• I am struggling to find the right organisations to partner with to make my impact startup work.

After the workshop, you will receive a pdf that outlines the steps, so you can start to use systems thinking on your own for your future challenges.

This workshop is hosted by the Systems Innovation Netherlands Hub and facilitated by Hannah Härtwich.

For the past 6 years, Hannah has worked as a facilitator to support systems change initiatives. The workshop content is based on her practical experience applying systems thinking and mapping in a diverse range of projects.

Systems Innovation is a network of people learning and applying the ideas of system thinking towards tackling complex wicked challenges in a diversity of areas. You can think of us like a large community of practice, for people who see the potential in systems thinking, wish to learn more, connect and work on applying these new ideas and methods in their area of interest or location.
