About this event
In June 2019, the Technical Centre for Agricultural and Rural Cooperation (CTA) in partnership with Dalberg Advisors launched a first of its kind, the Digitalisation of African Agriculture Report – 2018/2019. This baseline report for Africa (global) highlights the state of digital solutions in enabling the transformation of African agriculture. A key recommendation from the Advisory Council consisting of sixteen highly knowledgeable institutions in the sector that guided the production of the report was to ensure that the report is not “one-shot” but sustained and scaled to other regions.
Twelve months after its launch, a study was conducted “Measuring the Outcomes of the Digitalisation of African Agriculture Report – 2018/19” to assess how the report had been used, and the extent to which the recommendations of the report have been implemented. Additionally, the outcome study sought to understand if there is a general interest in building upon this work, as the mandate of CTA was coming to an end in December 2020. The results show that all the respondents would like to see new reports in the future with an overwhelming number willing to contribute to such reports in the future.
With the closure of CTA at the end of December 2020, there is a need to find a new home for its Digital Agriculture initiative. The objectives of this Webinar therefore are:
a) To showcase some of the Digital Agriculture work of Wageningen University and Research (WUR)
b) To begin stakeholder engagement to sustain and scale the D4Ag work beyond Africa, Caribbean, and Pacific countries
c) To officially unveil the new home for the CTA’s D4Ag Initiative
