Event description
An intense and interactive LIVE performance with Carmen Schabracq’s ritual masks--and electronic music by Project Wildeman.

About this Event

Dresscode: UNDERGROUND.

It’s getting dark now. Xolotl: the dark Venus; dog-woman Goddess. Every night, She guides the sun on its perilous way. To in a sinister but sensual place of extravagance. Here, the sun must die, only to rise again in the morning. We invite you to join us. Become part of our Urban Underworld. Intoxicating. Seductive. Don’t be afraid. Surrender to the music, dance into the night, and together we shall retell our own version of this ancient Aztec myth.

In our latest Lab-session, we are proud to join forces with visual artist and performer Carmen Schabracq. In this long-awaited collaboration, Wildeman Maarten Vinkenoog and Carmen will focus on a shared passion: the ritual mask.

Carmen Schabracq’s work often elaborates on the relationship between the mask and the body. During a recent residency in Mexico, she became enchanted by the mythological Aztec figure Xolotl, and the Xoloitzcuintli hairless dog. Xolotl was a god of fire and lightning, a sinister god of monstrosities, and the soul guide for the dead on their journey to the underworld. Carmen will become Xolotl herself. Maarten Vinkenoog shall be the Sun.

The Wildeman tribe has embraced this ominous myth as a source of musical inspiration.

With various masks and hypnotic music, we shall transform and enchant our live audience. Each member shall be guided to their own Corona safe place within the Underworld.

In collaboration with videographer Karl Klomp.
