Young Science in Transition: a grassroots movement to change the way we do science.

Our goal is to encourage young scientists to join the debate about themes like responsible research evaluation, public engagement and open science. What is open science and why do we need it in the first place? And how can young scientists communicate their results to society? Why is research evaluation mainly focused on output metrics? Can we change that as young scientists?Symposium 2020The Young SiT symposium challenges your views about science and provides you with concrete actions how you can help transform science. <ul><li>Keynote speaker <a href="http://www.cecilejanssens.org" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Prof. Cecile Janssens</a> will provoke discussion about open science. Epidemiologist and research professor of translational epidemiology at the Rollins School of Public Health of Emory University (United States). Open Science advocate. Opinionated <a href="https://twitter.com/cecilejanssens" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">twitter</a> enthusiast. Science columnist for <a href="https://www.nrc.nl/rubriek/cecile-janssens/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">NRC Handelsblad</a> and <a href="https://medium.com/@cecilejanssens" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Medium</a>.</li><li>Three interactive workshops about "Career &amp; Reward", "Open Science", and "Communication and Public engagement". </li><li>Future perspectives will be provided by our dean Arno Hoes, combined with a mission statement from Young SiT. </li></ul>InviteesEveryone who wants to be involved in improving the current scientific landscape.

About Young Science in TransitionWe are a group of early career enthousiastic scientists working at the UMC Utrecht. We are passionate about science and aim to push for more transparancy in career and reward systems, communication with and outreach to society at large, and open science at the UMC Utrecht. Our effort is distinct from Science in Transition as it is a grassroots movement of early career scientists, yet similar as we identify with the same endgoals.
