Youth Climbing Summer Camp | Fontainebleau 2024

Climb with us in one of the most beautiful outdoor bouldering areas in the world: the forest of Fontainebleau. The area is famous for its vast amount of high-quality sandstone boulder problems in all grade ranges. This makes it the perfect place to discover outdoor climbing for the first time, or improve your skills on rock.

During this camp, we will teach you the ins and outs of rock climbing. You will learn how to navigate the climbing areas, how to move efficiently on the rocks, how to be safe when climbing outdoors and how to treat the natural environment. Together with a small group of motivated young climbers and an experienced climbing coach, you will experience all that the area has to offer.

Next to outdoor bouldering, this camp will be filled with fun activities as a group, camping and eating together, being outside and discovering the nature around you. Check the schedule below to see what the days will look like.

The location of the camp is campsite La Musardiere, based in the heart of the Fontainebleau forest, just outside the village of Milly-la-forêt. From here, various bouldering areas are accessible by foot or a short drive. ĀTMA has it’s base camp on this campsite, where we can gather for meals and other shared activities indoor or outdoor. Here are also the cooking facilities, clean running water and electricity. The facilities of the campsite include toilet blocks and showers, a swimming pool, a morning baker, a small bar and activities such as ping pong, volleyball, soccer and Jeu de Boules.

During the stay, ĀTMA will provide for specific outdoor climbing equipment such as crash pads, guidebooks and brushes. We will also take care of the transportation between the campsite and the climbing areas, three healthy vegan meals per day and first-aid equipment. In case of rain, a ticket to the indoor bouldering gym is included in the price. Climbing shoes and chalk are not included, but please get in touch if you have trouble providing for this by yourself.

The camp will be guided by Tiba Vroom, full-time climber and climbing coach. Tiba has been climbing for over 15 years, both indoors and outdoors in the Fontainebleau area. She loves sharing her knowledge and experience about rock climbing and the area with young climbers, so that they can fall in love with the sport just as she did.

For this event, it’s required to have a suitable travel insurance that covers outdoor bouldering. We have recommended two options in the info below. We will be making sure that all activities will be safe and under our control, but the insurance is a necessity just in case. On the first day, we will go through all the safety measures that we need for rock climbing. There will be a certified first-aid instructor present at all times.
