Moor Trees
We help to restore the balance between humankind and nature by planting new native broadleaf woodland on Dartmoor and South Devon, enabling people to re-engage with trees and natural environments. We grow local provenance trees in our community tree nurseries from locally collected seed. We also run research, education and training programmes with partner schools, colleges and universities. We build biodiversity by working with local people. We have won various national volunteering awards and run volunteer days throughout the week. Founded in 2000, our achievements include: • Over 219,000 trees planted across 167 ha of woodland • Creation of 195 woodlands and hedgerows, and management of two tree nursery sites • Over 352,000 seeds collected, from species including Oak, Hazel, Alder, Birch, Rowan, Hawthorn, Crab Apple, and Guelder Rose • Over 1800 tree dedications from individuals • Over 162 volunteering days delivered to 285 registered volunteers, giving 6,408 hours of their time in the past year.
