Di Hoskin

As a founding educator at Green School New Zealand, I have been integral to developing and nurturing our distinctive educational environment. My role as Head of Learner Experiences and Wellbeing, Community Connections, and Head of Learner Support and Child Protection Officer reflects my commitment to student welfare, community engagement, and innovative educational practices.

Prior to being invited to help establish Green School NZ, I worked as a Resource Teacher of Learning and Behaviour (RTLB) for the Ministry of Education. In this role, I led innovative interventions that supported educators and families across Taranaki, enhancing teaching and learning experiences through cutting-edge strategies. I have spoken at Massey University sharing ways to implement interventions using strength-based practices. I also established a SENCO network where specialists within schools were able to network, collaborate and be up-skilled in their area of expertise.

With a specialisation in learning and behaviour, I bring a deep understanding of student needs, ensuring our programs are inclusive and supportive of all learners. My work is centered on creating a safe, holistic nurturing, and stimulating environment where students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Beyond my work within the school, I play a vital role in connecting Green School NZ with the wider Taranaki community, fostering partnerships that enhance our students' learning experiences. Additionally, I support international families transitioning into our Green School community, helping them integrate smoothly and feel at home.

I also lead various events on campus, extending our reach to the national and even international level. These events are designed to inspire, connect, and empower our students, staff, and broader community, reflecting our commitment to global citizenship.

As a member of the leadership team, I champion initiatives that promote mental health and wellbeing, including the integration of Hauora into our curriculum and the celebration of Wellness Day. My dedication lies in empowering our students to become confident, compassionate leaders in their communities and the world beyond.
