Gemma Stewart

This is my brother Jamie. I try to do an event every year after losing my brother in 2007 just aged 14, He died of a rare metabolic disease called Leigh's disease. I do these events to keep my brothers memory alive and raise awareness of these horrible diseases. I raise the money for the charity Climb because they have been a great support and continue to be a great support to our family.

We would have never have known about this disease if it wasnt for losing my brother and I wouldnt have known that I am a carrier and pass on the disease to my children. I already have a son Jayden who has the disease but has a very low percentage of it and is perfectly fine at the moment. I have been blessed with a healthy child.

I like to do these events to try and raise awareness in the Aberdeen area, even though it is really hard one day I will make a difference to someone.
