Sedgehill Academy

At Sedgehill Academy our ambition is to become an excellent local community school. We have a culture of high expectations and aspirations and are determined to bring out the very best in every student. We are also part of United Learning, a group of schools seeking to bring out the best in every student and member of staff through collaboration and shared expertise.

Academic achievement is our number one priority. We support our students to achieve the qualifications they need to open doors to university, training and employment, and gain skills that will set them apart from others. We expect them to achieve well across a wide range of subjects, through a rich, broad and challenging curriculum.

But, at Sedgehill, we believe that there is more to a good education than academic success. We aim to develop character, compassion and service. We want students to try things they cannot do, to persist in the face of difficulty and to become resilient in overcoming obstacles. Throughout their time with us, we expect them all to contribute positively to our school community and to society, in preparation for being active citizens in our global world. We are extremely proud of the culture of kindness and respect through our academy values of hard work, kindness, integrity and excellence.

Our students benefit from an Education with Character: an education which challenges, inspires and excites our students and helps them develop into happy, confident and successful young adults. Our sports, drama, art and music facilities are state-of-the-art, and all students in years 7 to 9 have the chance to learn a musical instrument as part of the prestigious Music in Secondary Schools Programme which we have been a part of since it was founded.
