Susan Mandala
Dr Susan Mandala is a writing and language awareness consultant and founding director of Writing Works Consulting. She holds a PhD from the University of Cambridge and was for many years an academic at the University of Sunderland, where her two favourite roles were training doctoral candidates to write literature reviews and analysing the language of fiction and drama.
A highly published academic author, she has written two books as well as numerous scholarly articles and essays, covering topics such as weird -y suffixes in Buffy the Vampire Slayer; dialect in regional crime fiction; language in fantasy fiction; and power dynamics in modern British drama dialogue. A specialist in the study of language, writing, and style, she brings to her practice 30 years of research into how English works in writing and a lifetime of experience in workshop design and delivery.
