Yves Lorrhan
I am Yves Lorrhan, a dancer, teacher, and choreographer born in the northeast of Brazil and currently living in Ireland. With 26 years of dance experience, I have developed a solid technique in ballroom dance, Afro-Brazilian dances, and contemporary dance, allowing me to express myself in different styles while maintaining my identity. For almost 10 years, I was one of the co-choreographers of Cia Bamberg de Dança, where we developed 5 shows and performed around 300 times.
Currently, I am undergoing training in dance therapy in Italy (Maria Fux method) to understand how to express feelings and emotions more genuinely through dance. Additionally, I have had the honour of working with renowned Irish artists in recent years, including John Scott (Hyperactive and Migration Sonata), Philip Connaughton (New Movement), Alessandra Azevedo (The City of the Sun God), and artist Osaro Adams, where I was a dancer in the 'Birds of the Forest' reading performance, as well as with artist educator David McGovern at A4 Sounds.
In 2023, I performed at festivals and events such as Kilkenny Festival, All Together Now, Five Lamps Arts, Culture Night, and received an agility grant from the Arts Council, which allowed me to deepen and improve my techniques. In 2024, I was awarded a residency program at Dance Ireland, where I began exploring masculinity and the effects of patriarchy on society.
