Helping Irish Hostsis an Irish non-profit working to make welcome, connection and belonging easier for people arriving in Ireland and the communities they join.Founded in 2022 in response to the war in Ukraine, HIH helped build Ireland’s national hosting response, supporting a movement that enabled more than 55,000 displaced people to find accommodation in Irish homes. We directly matched more than 3,000 people with hosts, while building the resources, networks, events and support that helped thousands more make hosting work.That experience taught us that welcome works both ways. The needs, capacity and experience of communities matter just as much as those of the people arriving, and accommodation is only the beginning.Today, our work focuses on what comes next: helping newcomers find their way into communities, and helping communities build the connections that make belonging possible.Through Co.Here, our EU-funded partnership with UCD and Pairity, we’re exploring how community knowledge, human support and technology can help more of those connections happen.
