State of Design
Based in central Cambridge, State of Design is a multi-award winning Architecture practice designing practical, attractive and highly energy efficient buildings, even to PassivHaus standards if necessary. Our projects are innovative yet pragmatic and are considered from the start with best value in mind in terms of both design and implementation. Our portfolio spans a wide range of projects, including complete refurbishments, basement, ground and loft extensions, new-built houses, and even barn conversions.
A significant portion of our work takes place within conservation areas, whether nestled in city centres or in the heart of the countryside. We excel in handling complex, sensitive sites, often necessitating intricate negotiations with planning authorities and neighboring stakeholders. We have an excellent track record of securing planning consents without any refusals to date.
Our comprehensive services encompass full design support and an array of options, from feasibility studies to planning applications, detailed design, building control applications, tendering for construction, contract administration, and on-site inspections. Moreover, clients frequently entrust us with interior design tasks and seek our expertise on Party Wall matters.
Our in-house PassivHaus Accreditation equips State of Design with the capability to craft highly energy-efficient homes and refurbishments. This accreditation has been integral to our design philosophy for many years. Our approach is custom-tailored to the unique aesthetic and practical requirements of each client. Throughout the project, whether in the design phase or during construction, we implement systems that ensure continuous and efficient communication with our clients. At State of Design, no project is considered too small, and we maintain the same high level of commitment and attention to detail to both our domestic and commercial clients.
To facilitate effective communication and mitigate potential misunderstandings, State of Design harnesses cutting-edge visualisation and collaboration technologies that are not overwhelming in use. These tools are instrumental in fostering clear communication between our clients and the construction teams responsible for project execution. Notably, we've been honing our expertise in this realm for many years now, including innovative practices like virtual reality meetings set within the context of your new home or extension. We look forward to the opportunity to assist you with your upcoming project.
