Campus² Tech Talks: a new name, the same inspiring knowledge exchange
Formerly known as the Open Lecture, Campus² Tech Talks is the platform where science, business, and society come together. In this new edition, we focus on the transformation towards the 4th Generation University—a model that goes beyond education and research. It is a dynamic hub of open innovation where academia, industry, government, and society jointly create sustainable impact.
Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) is shaping this vision, building on Brainport’s heritage of applied research and innovation. The 4th Generation University is both global and local: embedded in the regional ecosystem while fully connected to international networks. It fosters collaboration, accelerates innovation, and helps society address the pressing challenges of our time.

16.05 – 16.45 | Lecture by Prof. Maarten Steinbuch & Prof. Marcel Bogers
- Maarten Steinbuch – Distinguished University Professor in Systems and Control and Chair of Control Systems Technology at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e). His research ranges from automotive engineering (with a focus on connected cars and clean vehicles) to mechatronics, motion control, and fusion plasma control.
- Marcel Bogers – Full Professor of Open & Collaborative Innovation at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) and a Research Fellow at the University of California, Berkeley. As an innovation management scholar, his research ranges from the microfoundations of open innovation to the dynamics of innovation ecosystems.
Abstract:
This edition explores the future of innovation ecosystems through the idea of the 4th Generation University. Maarten Steinbuch and Marcel Bogers will show how TU/e and Brainport Eindhoven bring this vision to life by fostering open innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration and co-creation between academia, industry, government, and society. The talk highlights local lessons with global relevance and offers insights into how ecosystems can evolve to address today's challenges and generate sustainable value.
