Dig in the main principles of nomadic living

This Day of Learning explores everyday life and spiritual practices in nomadic culture in Kyrgyzstan under de guidance of Chinara Seidakmatova, expert in nomadic culture. Chinara Seidakmatova will talk about the heritage that her family has been fostering from one generation to the next.

The traditional religion practiced by the nomadic Kyrgyz culture is called Tengri, which means ‘Blue Sky’. Tengri is all about the intricate connection with nature. It revolves around the sun deity and focuses on balance with nature, incorporating characteristics of shamanism, animism, both polytheism and monotheism, and ancestor worship.

Chinara Seidakhmatova is an economist by education. She worked as a teacher of political economy, and led a successful restaurant business later. After 2000 she was the director of the business association, then the director of the Congress of business associations. Always had a passion for sewing women's clothing, she has a small tailor-made clothes shop, now mostly national traditional clothes. Her hobby for traditional knowledge began in 2005 with the study of patterns, which eventually deepened. Since 2008 she have been cooperating with the cultural research center ‘Aigine’, where she participates as an expert in projects. ‘Aigine’ is devoted to the study of traditional knowledge of Kyrgyz people in various spheres of life, from the socio-political system of communication to healing knowledge of ancient ancestors.

About

Age of Wonderland 2017 presents 100 DAYS OF LEARNING, a global learning event to exchange valuable life experiences with peers. Doers and thinkers from around the world - innovators, scientists, engineers, artists, designers, social entrepreneurs - are invited to share their personal stories, ideas, and practice, not to be found in textbooks. Aim is to rediscover knowledge, challenge beliefs, and exchange life lessons with others. To make the world a better place, we need to embrace change on an individual level, and inspire others to do the same.

During World Design Event the gathered knowledge and experiences will be shared in daily talkshows at Peoples Pavilion and in Baltan Laboratories Expo (Natlab).
