Diversity and inclusivity creates a better working environment for everyone, which in turn has a positive effect on productivity and overall happiness.
When talking about diversity though, sometimes neurodiversity is overlooked. However, many people on the spectrum face difficulties in the workplace, and these should be improved. For example, this can cause issues in communication. In the development of medical technology, communication between engineers and clinicians is especially important; these difficulties can cause larger issues. However, in order to improve the conditions on the workfloor, we must first start a conversation.
Together with Promeras, LUMC Association for PhD candidates (LAP) and Young Delft, Young Medical Delta is hosting a series of discussions to open this conversation. The goal is to eventually better create an environment of inclusivity in the workplace. In each city of the PhD associations, Delft, Rotterdam and Leiden, we will have speakers explain a certain topic relating to neurodivergence. Hereafter, an open discussion will be started with the speakers, the audience and people who wish to share their personal experiences. The first event will take place on 2 November in Delft and will focus primarily on neurodivergence and inclusion in general.
