Sail the Amsterdam Canals on a Refugee boat

Sietar NL nodigt haar leden graag uit voor een rondvaart door de Amsterdamse grachten op een echte vluchtelingenboot (details hieronder). We hebben twee sessies geboekt een om 15:30 en de andere om 17:00. Afhankelijk van het aantal inschrijvingen kan het zijn dat een van de twee moet worden geannuleerd. De rondleiding wordt gevolgd door een netwerkborrel en een optioneel diner.

Over de Grachtentour

Immigratie is onlosmakelijk verbonden met Amsterdam. In onze grachtentour delen we verhalen van immigranten uit het heden én verleden. We vertellen hoe nieuwkomers Amsterdam al eeuwenlang vormen tot de stad die ze is, en dat tot op de dag van vandaag doen.

Over Rederij Lampedusa

In 2015 hebben we van het Italiaanse eiland Lampedusa een tweetal door vluchtelingen achtergelaten boten opgepikt en naar Amsterdam gebracht. Met als doel om daarmee de meest kleurrijke, meest inclusieve en meest sympathieke rederij van de stad – maar misschien wel van heel Europa – op te richten. Of we daarin geslaagd zijn mag je zelf komen bepalen. Wij – een gemêleerd gezelschap met roots in Syrië, Somalië, Eritrea, Egypte en Nederland – varen en gidsen je met veel plezier door onze wereldstad én thuishaven.

Sietar NL is pleased to invite its members to take a tour of the Amsterdam canals on a real refugee boat (details below). We have booked two sessions one at 15:30 and the other at 17:00. Depending on the number of registrations, one of these may need to be cancelled. The tour will be followed by a networking borrel and an optional dinner.

About the Grachtentour

You sail on our boat ‘Hedir’ through the canals of Amsterdam. A captain and a guide will accompany you on this tour.

Both have landed in Amsterdam as refugees themselves. They will tell you about the city, but then a slightly different story. They will tell you how a fishing boat from Egypt came to be used by people smugglers to transport dozens of people across the Mediterranean, and how these original refugee boats ended up in the canals of Amsterdam in 2015. And they tell you how they themselves became part of this refugee story.

About Rederij Lampedusa

In 2015 we pulled two former migrant boats from the Mediterranean to Amsterdam. To start the most inclusive, the most colourful and probably the most sympathetic canal cruise company of the city.
