Readings from Cellists by Kazuo Ishiguro from Nocturnes: five stories about music and nightfall. Cellists tells the story of the remarkable and surreal relationship between a cellist and their teacher. Kazuo Ishiguro, born in Nagasaki Japan came to England at the age of five and has grown into one of the UK’s most beloved novelists. He won the Man Booker Prize for The Remains of the Day and was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 2017. According to the nobel committee "in novels of great emotional force, Ishiguro has uncovered the abyss beneath our illusory sense of connection with the world”. He has also written lyrics for a number of jazz songs and music plays an important role in Ishiguro’s literary work.
