This in-person workshop will take place at OBA Van der Pek. Bring your old clothes that need a little TLC and our experts will guide you on how to upcycle them with visible mending techniques. During this workshop we will learn a technique to mend and repair clothes, woven darning. It's a simple, accessible technique for repairing holes, reinforcing weak spots, or covering stains with woven patterns. Visible mending is more than a practical skill, it's also a way of reconnecting with our clothes, slowing down and extending the life of the garments we already own. Together, we will share stories, exchange skills and celebrate the beauty found in the wear and tear of our wardrobes.
No prior sewing experience is required, the workshop is open to everyone. Please bring along a piece of clothing you'd like to repair, a favorite sweater, shirt, jacket with a hole or worn spot is ideal (knits or woven fabrics both work well). All other materials will be provided, and by the end of the session you will leave not only with a new skill, but also with the confidence to continue mending at home, and perhaps a new way of seeing the clothes you already own.
The workshop will be taught in English.
