During Amsterdam Art Week on Saturday, June 1, the Women in Art Foundation is co-hosting two exciting events at Equals. The first is a Panel Talk by the Young Collectors Circle, and the second is an Art Talk and Exhibition by Marguerite Nolan, Founder of Ever Emerging Mag.
Program:
12.00 - 13.00 Panel Talk: The Future is Equal
The Women in Art Foundation and Young Collectors Circle invite you to join a panel discussion on collecting art and making change. From the perspectives of a collector, gallerist and artist we address the role of women in the art world, representation and the pay gap, and discuss tools for contributing to an equal playing field. An emerging trend in recent years is the increasing attention from major institutions towards female artists, attempting to address gaps in collections and programming. While this is a welcome development, it also painfully highlights the ongoing urgency of this matter.
15-minute break
13.15 - 13.45 Art Talk and Exhibition: A Timeline: Women, Age and Art by Marguerite Nolan, Founder of Ever Emerging Mag.
In this talk Marguerite explores the representation of women and aging in visual culture and art, examining its impact on our perceptions of these groups. Additionally, we delve into the influence of visual art and address the potential gaps in the narratives within the art profession and broader society due to these universal biases. Furthermore, we identify opportunities for cultural change to reshape these perceptions.
