Meeting nature
Meeting Nature is convened by Rembrandt Zegers, Anna-Rosa Le Roux and Niels van Steenbergen.
The idea for the conference emerged from conversations within the ISPSO community and has since developed into an annual initiative. The convening committee is responsible for the overall design, institutional framing and continuity of the conference.
The conveners share the view that the ecological crisis cannot be addressed solely through technical solutions or reductions in CO₂ emissions. While such measures are essential, they believe that deeper and more sustainable change requires a transformation in how we relate to the natural world itself.
Rather than positioning nature as a resource to be managed or controlled, Meeting Nature invites an exploration of what it means to approach the natural world as a partner — engaging in a relationship of reciprocity, responsibility and humility. The conference creates a temporary learning institution in which this shift in perspective can be examined through the lens of group relations.
Each year, the convening committee appoints a staff team with experience in group relations work and a demonstrated understanding of ecological and climate-related questions. Together, they hold the institutional boundaries and support participants in working with authority, role and systemic dynamics as these unfold in real time.
