Art By Asheera
I’m a mother of two, a lifelong student of Islamic art, and a former primary school teacher with a passion for preserving and sharing the beauty of Tezhip (Islamic illumination).
Having learned from mentors in Türkiye, Doha, and Morocco, I now host beginner-friendly workshops that bring this centuries-old art form to life. While staying true to traditional techniques, I also enjoy adding my own contemporary touch, helping make this beautiful art form accessible and relevant today.
My background in teaching allows me to break down what can seem like complex techniques into simple, achievable steps, so that anyone can create a piece they’re proud of, even on their very first attempt.
As a mother, I also understand how important it is to carve out intentional time for ourselves—to slow down, connect with others, learn something new, and create with our hands. My workshops are designed to be more than just art classes; they’re an opportunity to step away from the busyness of life, share meaningful conversations, and experience the joy of creating in a welcoming community.
Through my workshops, I hope to honour the knowledge entrusted to me by my teachers, preserve a rich artistic heritage, and inspire others to discover the beauty of this timeless art form.
