KySU Environmental Education and Research Center

KySU Environmental Education and Research Center

The Environmental Education and Research Center (EERC) is a 308-acre center that includes an accessible pavilion with picnic tables; an outdoor classroom; a 1.6-acre pond; Six Mile Creek; walking trails, including Kentucky's only braille trail; and sites for anthropology, aquatic sciences, forestry, biology, and science education.

We welcome all students who want to learn about their environment while protecting and enhancing Kentucky’s wild lands. The EERC creates a collaborative learning experience, which connects students, faculty, staff, and the surrounding community to the environment through immersive, hands-on activities for learners of all ages and abilities.

The purchase of the property was funded by the Kentucky Heritage Land Conservation Fund Board (KHLCFB). This center will make every reasonable effort to provide access to all members of the commonwealth while focusing on providing educational experiences that accommodate different learning abilities.
